Mrs. Howard's 8th Grade ELA Class
My name is Suzanna Howard. I am not originally from North Carolina, but I got here as soon as I could! I love this state! My husband, Chad and I, moved to Burlington this summer with our five kids from Sanford, NC. We lived there for two years after spending 15 wonderful years in Concord, NC.I lived in Huntersville before that with parents and five siblings. I love being a short drive from both the mountains and the beach! I also love all of the great history that the state has to offer.
I love to spend time with my family and there is a lot of laughter in our home. My philosophy is that if you are going to laugh at a situation now, you might as well laugh at it now! I am an optimist and love to see the good in other people. I love to sing and play the piano. I love reading a good book and watching good movies that have me laughing or on the edge of my seat. I have an affinity to HGTV and would love to restore a fixer upper!
I am so excited to be teaching at The Academy at Lincoln! This is my second year teaching. I took a break from the paying work world to stay at home with our kids and started teaching once our youngest started Kindergarten. Being a parent is one of my favorite things and teaching flows so naturally from that. I think that middle school students are amazing human beings and I am really looking forward to helping each of my students realize their individual potential and experience success.
Classroom Rules and Expectations
I have found that most issues in the classroom can be resolved and prevented by following my three simple rules:
1. Be respectful and kind.
2. Be prepared.
3. Be engaged.
Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire.
