Welcome to 4th Grade with Ms. Lode'

Welcome to Ms. Lode's class! This is my second year at Simkins teaching 4th grade. I am originally from Centreville, Maryland, but I moved to Greensboro after completing my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Pfeiffer University. I most recently completed my Master's degree in Elementary Education at Pfeiffer University. While I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends (taking many road trips to Maryland), watching sports like football (Go Ravens), hockey (Go Caps), and lacrosse, and spending time with my two golden doodles, Oshie and Cooper!

I am looking forward to a great school year! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via email or class dojo.

  • Ms. Lode's Expectations

In our classroom, students are expected to:

    1. Follow directions the 1st time

    2. Be respectful of themselves, others, and materials

    3. Take responsibility for their work, behavior, and actions

    4. Always work hard and never give up

In Ms. Lode's class we work hard, have a growth mindset when things get tough, and celebrate success!

Students receive a homework "choice board" on Monday with 9 options. Students can complete those options in any order, but all 9 options must be completed and turned in on Friday. In addition to the homework choice board, students are encouraged and expected to read at least 30 minutes each night. Homework is an important extension of skills learned and practiced in school, so it is important that students are completing homework each week. Encouraging students to read at home can create life long readers!

    Communication - We SWIM together

Let's be a team! Communication is key for the success of all students. Building relationships with my students parents is equally as important as building relationships with my students. I am always available via phone, email and/or Class Dojo. Class Dojo is my main form of communication. Weekly updates and reminders will be sent in the beginning and end of each week. Students will always have important dates and reminders attached to their weekly homework as well as monthly grade level newsletters.

Be on the look out for updates.
