Welcome to Mr. Walker's Class!
My name is Sean Walker and I am excited to join the Murphey family for 2018-19. This will be my first year teaching 4th grade. I have previous experience working in schools in both Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Additionally, I served in Americorps' Spirit of Excellence program through Black Child Development Institute (BCDI) of Greensboro as a tutor and instructional assistant. With BCDI I also participated in the National Children's Defense Fund's Freedom School in the summer of 2018.
I am originally from Syracuse, New York and have spent some time living in Austin, Texas as well. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor Degree in English. I am married and have two dogs (Scout and Cole) that I love to take hiking, camping, and traveling with me. I enjoy the peacefulness that nature offers and like to spend time in the forest or mountains when I am not teaching. I am also an avid baseball fan and, as my wife would say, am obsessed with the New York Yankees. When I am not camping or watching baseball, I enjoy reading. My favorite authors are Toni Morrison, Kurt Vonnegut, Henry David Thoreau, and Dave Eggers.
