This is my 5th year at the great Ben L. Smith High School. I'm excited to get to know my students and see familiar faces.

I earned bachelor's degrees in Philosophy/Religion and English with a focus in Creative Writing at Appalachian State University in 2001. I earned my master's and doctorate degrees in Modern American Literature from UNCG in 2004 and 2008.

I've been in the classroom since 2004. I served as a lecturer for the English Dept. and an academic advisor for the College of Arts and Sciences at UNCG from 2008-2012.

I was the Program Director of General Education/Assistant Professor of English at South University from 2013-2018.

I'm now the AP/IB Coordinator at Smith.
