Kindergarten is a wonderful beginning to a lifetime of learning! Learning to read, counting to 100 and writing simple sentences are just a few of the many skills your kindergartener will acquire during the school year. Be sure to read the weekly newsletter for specifics on what your child learned the week before. The following are some things that you can do to help your child have a successful year in Kindergarten:
- Check your child's folder on a daily basis.
- Help your child complete nightly homework.
- Practice sight words with your child.
- Read with your child every day. (Be sure to sign the reading log.)
Teaching Kindergarten is a wonderful experience ... there is nothing greater than watching a child learn a new skill. I received my Bachelor's Degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2000 and I've enjoyed every year of teaching since.
