Meal Information: Starting September 1, students can visit any school in the district to pick up lunch and a breakfast for the next day. You do not need to go to the school your child attends, which is great for our magnet population as I know a lot of you don't live near General Greene. Meals are available from 11am to 12pm, Monday-Friday. Meals will not be distributed on days that schools are closed. For more information, click here.
GCS has a number of Internet Access Points throughout the county. You can find the locations by following this link.
GCS has 13 Learning Centers open across the district. These centers are open for students that lack internet access. For a list of locations and a link to register, click here. Space is limited to register as soon as possible.
Hello! My name is Sarah Sexton and I'm proud to be General Greene's Professional School Counselor. 2020-2021 is my 4th year at Greene, and my 9th year in Guilford County Schools.
The role of Professional School Counselors is to support students with academic, career, and social/emotional development. This takes place through individual sessions, small groups, and classroom lessons.
According to the GCS Elementary/Middle School Counselors homepage:
"Elementary/Middle school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. They implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support students through this important developmental period. The program provides education, prevention and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. The program teaches knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to acquire in academic, career and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for future success."
I have the following roles within Greene:
* Intervention Support Team (IST) Coordinator
* 504 Coordinator
* Check-In/Check-Out facilitator
* Member of the Attendance Team, and School Climate Committee
* Completing ADHD Screeners
* Middle School registration
* Career Day coordinator
If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your student's academic, career, and/or social emotional development, please reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 336-545-2015.
Outside of school, I enjoy visiting my family in New York and New Jersey, photography, gardening, and spending time with my two orange tabbies, Timmy and Bear.
