My name is Sarah Sexton and I am so happy to be the Professional School Counselor at General Greene. This will be my second year as a Gator, and my seventh year as a school counselor. According to the GCS Elementary/Middle School Counselors homepage:
"Elementary/Middle school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. They implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support students through this important developmental period. The program provides education, prevention and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. The program teaches knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to acquire in academic, career and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for future success."
I have the following roles within the school:
* Intervention Support Team (IST) Coordinator
* 504 Coordinator
* Check-In/Check-Out Facilitator
* Service Learning Coordinator
In addition, I am a member of the district Equity Leadership Team, and I will be working on bringing the Start With Hello (tm) program to our students.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, gardening, photography, and I work part-time as a decorative product specialist. I am originally from New York, so I try to visit home as much as possible. I'm the proud cat-mom of two adorable orange tabbies: Timmy and Bear.
You may contact me via email or phone with any questions or concerns you have about your son's or daughter's social, emotional, and/or academic development. I am here to help.
