Ms. Chelsea Smith
Principal Chelsea Smith is a native of Greensboro, NC and a product of Guilford County Schools. After completing her undergraduate degree at North Carolina A&T State University she began teaching in the district for many years. After much success as a classroom teacher, Ms. Smith transitioned into the role of school administrator where she continues to be passionate about all students receiving a quality education. She served as assistant principal at Calvin Wiley Elementary School for 3 years and most recently as assistant principal at Ben L. Smith High School for the last 2 years. She was appointed as the new principal of Bessemer Elementary School as of July 1st, 2018 and is looking forward to serving in the community where she once grew up. Ms. Smith holds a Master’s degree in Education, a Post Master’s in School Administration, and an Advanced degree (EdS) in Educational Leadership. Ms. Smith is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with an expected completion date of December 2018.

Greetings Bessemer Bobcat Families! I am Ms. Chelsea Smith and it is with GREAT pleasure that I serve as the proud principal of Bessemer Elementary. As your principal, I am dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment for every student who walks into this building. Most importantly, I am dedicated to improving teaching and learning in our building. I am a firm believer in the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Therefore, the support of parents/guardians and community members will be essential in making sure that the students of Bessemer Elementary get what they need. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts regarding your child’s school success. Your concerns, ideas, and positive comments are appreciated and respected. Communication is vital to our students’ success and our overall growth here at Bessemer Elementary School.
