• For our Shakespeare Unit: NGHS 10th Graders will participate in a three-day workshop during their English classes where they will complete their required Shakespeare learning standards through a residency with Triad Stage.

  • Hello everyone,

I am Katherine Rastrick and I am originally from England. I moved to America in 1986 and lived in Tampa, Florida for 14 years where I finished high school and obtained two degrees in English Literature and English Education with a minor (almost another major) in Art from the University of South Florida.

I have been teaching for 21 years. I began my teaching career in Tampa, Florida, but came to North Carolina in 2000. I taught in Charlotte from 2000-2005 at Northwest School of the Arts, then went to Rowan County for a short stint, then West Davidson High School in Davidson County for 6 years. I returned to Charlotte to Olympic High School in 2010 and taught there until the end of the 2017-18 school year when I moved to Greensboro. I began this school year teaching in Virginia, but I wanted to teach closer to home.

I have taught all grade levels from 7th through 12th and all levels of students from Standard, Honors, to AP. I have also taught Costuming, Film and Literature – with a focus on Holocaust and Genocide, and Yearbook throughout my career. I bring a creative flare to the classroom due to my arts background.

In my spare time, I love to travel, read, belly dance and work out. I also spend a lot of time with my dog, Fluffy.

If you ever have any questions, please email me at: rastrik@gcsnc.com or call the school at (336) 643-8449.

Thank you and I look forward to a successful year.
