Ms. Monroe

Hi! My name is Ms. Monroe and I'm so excited to be your Kindergarten teacher! It's going to be a fun year full of learning and adventure. I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know all about you, but first let me tell you a few things about me.

Education and Experience

I was born and raised in a small NC town, and I'm the youngest of two! I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I majored in Early Childhood Development and Family Studies and attended A&T State University and earned my Birth-through Kindergarten Teaching License.  While in Greensboro, I worked at Guilford Child Development as a Pre-K Teacher for 5 years, but moved to Virginia to work as a Family Child Care Coordinator for Early Head Start.  Shortly after moving there, I fell in love with the best NFL football team...the BALTIMORE RAVENS! I am a die-hard Ravens fan and I love, love, love football!!

In 2006, I returned to Greensboro and started working as an EC Pre-K teacher at Sternberger Elementary.  During my time there, I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Capella University.

My Favorites

My favorite color is blue and I love sweets! Some of my favorite foods are strawberry short cake, banana pudding, Chipotle bowls, tropical smoothies, and my mother's cooking. I enjoy listening to old school music, watching action movies, and exercising. I have a 13-year-old nephew name Nigel, who I love to pieces! I enjoy traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

I enjoy working with children, and I'm excited to be partnering with my new families. I can't wait to spend the next year learning and growing with each of you and creating a safe and loving school family.
