• Welcome to Student Support Services

The focus of our department is to provide various support services to the students and parents of Guilford County Schools.  These services will assist students to succeed in learning and graduation.

    School Counselors

Elementary counselors are educators uniquely trained in child development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. They implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support students through this important developmental period. The program provides education, prevention and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. The program teaches knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to acquire in academic, career and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for future success.

    School Social Workers

Guilford County Schools employs school social workers to provide a link between homes, schools and communities. School social workers serve elementary, middle and high schools throughout the district to promote and support educational goals. They are uniquely qualified to provide a variety of direct and indirect services to assist students and families.  As part of the educational team, school social workers promote and support students' academic and social success. School social workers are professionally trained and licensed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
