I am thrilled to be a teacher of the great Ben L. Smith High School. I have been a CTE teacher with Guilford County for sixteen years. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Computer Technology and a Master’s of Science in Information Technology from N.C. A&T S.U. I am passionate about the field of Technology, Engineering and Design, and have a strong heart for helping students feel valued, supported, and challenged. I am fortunate to join you as we are working together to make this the best year ever.
This school year, I will be teaching Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, and Engineering Design and Development. These courses are designed to give Future Engineers a broad understanding of engineering, its importance and its effects upon society, the economy and the environment. Future Engineers will adopt a problem-solving mindset with critical-thinking skills as well as teaming and other essential "success" skills. They will research, apply, design, troubleshoot, and build conceptual physical models to better understand STEM concepts. Overall, this course is to provide essential and enduring 21st Century skills needed to become the next inventor or innovator. I look forward to seeing you this year!
