     Good Morning Jaguar Nation!

    In response to the new Greensboro Order that will go into effect on Friday at 5:00 pm.  We are asking that if you need to borrow a tablet, during this time, please come to the school between now and 4:00 pm today and 9:00 am- 4:00 pm on Friday. If you have not made an appointment your wait time may be longer, therefore we are asking that you are patient with us.  When you come please use the 2nd drive way entrance off Naco road, before you get to the Faulkner Entrance, and we will have a curbside service set up to assist with tablet distribution. Please call the school if you have any other concerns or questions or need assistance. 336.378.8280. 

     

    Due to recent updates being made to Canvas students will not be able to access their assignments until tomorrow. Please be patient as we make this new educational process more efficient for staff and students.

     

    It is our hope that we can get the items to our students that are need in order for our students to be educationally successful while at home, and it takes us all to work together as we continue to be great because we are still THE HAIRSTON. Have a great day.

     

     

     

     

    Connect Ed Messages for 3/23/2020

     

    Good Morning Jaguar Nation!

     

    This is Ms. Blake-Smith with a few announcements…

     

    35 school sites are offering meals in a grab and go format daily between the hours of 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  The Hairston is a feeding site and we are feeding well over 100 students every day.  Come see us if you can or visit another site closer to you.  In addition to our “grab and go” locations at GCS schools, we have expanding our meal program for students in need and their families by adding community locations the district is designating as “satellite meal locations.” The sites are listed on the front page of our website under Grab and Go and Satellite Meal Locations. Beginning today, Guilford County Schools is asking that anyone who needs to visit the school call to schedule an appointment.  The office will be staffed between the hours of 10 AM – 2 PM but appointments will be necessary.  You can also email me if its easier at blakesc@gcsnc.com. The majority of our staff is working remotely and limiting interactions and gatherings in alignment with all national and state recommendations.  However, we are committed to remaining accessible to our parents and scholars and providing great service during this challenging time.

     

    Students should be logging into CANVAS to do their online learning.  If you have any questions, please have the students to email their homeroom teachers or call the school. If they are having difficulties with passwords they will need to email their homeroom teachers.   

     

    If your student’s password is not working, try having them claim their account by logging in to NCEDCLOUD, hit claim your account and the LEA code is 410.

    Connect Ed Message for 3/15/2020

     

    Greetings, Parents

     

    This is Ms Blake-Smith with an update on Guilford County Schools’ closure for the next two weeks. I apologize for the late call as I wanted to make sure I communicated the most recent information.  I also encourage you to stay connected by answering all GCS Connect Ed phone calls and monitoring the district webpage at www.gcsnc.com if you know of someone who is not receiving the connect Ed messages please encourage them to stop by or call the school to update their contact information. 

     

    • The Hairston will open for parents/scholars topick up personal items on Monday between the hours of 9:00 – 11:00 AM and 2:00 – 4:00 PM.  Students should report directly to their core 1 classroom to check in before going to get items. Parents may report to the office if they need to pick up medication. Please plan to stop by the school during those times as we have some important documents to share with you. If you need transportation assistance please call the school, the district will be sending around buses after Monday so that you can come and get items. If you have not received your one card please make sure you get that before you leave on Monday.

     

    • GCS is working on a plan for breakfast and/or lunch availability for students in need.  We are a feeding site. So please take advantage of our grab and go meals.

     

    • GCS is  also working on a plan for online learning options.Assignments will be posted on Canvas. Canvas is available on any device that connects to the internet. we will Distribute information on how to access Canvas on Monday. Online learning will start on Monday, March 23rd. In the meantime, please encourage our students to read  30 minutes a day,  to watch educational programs on tv, and exercise daily. If you can access the learning websites please do so.

     

    Our students will be truly missed during these next 2 weeks. Just know that we at Jaguar Nation love and care about you and want you to stay safe during this time.     Connect Ed Message for 3/11/2020

                    Good Evening Jaguar Nation,

                    This is Ms. Blake-Smith with a few announcements.  After school tutoring has officially began.  Students will be able to stay for extra assistance on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday, from 4:30-5:15, transportation will be provided with appropriate notice. Please contact the school if you need more information.  HMS All-Star Saturday academy will start THIS Saturday March 14th, from 9-1.  Student who received invitations should plan to attend. Parents, please call the school if you would like for your student to attend Saturday Academy. Breakfast and lunch and transportation will be provided with prior notice. Lastly, please save the date of March 18 at 6pm, as we bring Music in Our Schools.  We will have special guest from Dudley’s Marching band and chorus along with performances from our very own band and chorus.   Refreshments will be served. We hope to be able to see you and/or your student at these events.  Have a wonderful evening as we tell the world to watch us be GREAT! Thank you.
