Students who do not have proof of a COVID vaccination loaded on the designated UNCG site, should plan to get tested again this week.

Our Sophomores will get tested on Monday, our Freshmen and Juniors on Wednesday, and Seniors should go either of those days as your schedule permits. Questions or concerns regarding vaccinations or required testing should be directed to our University Liaison, Mrs. Johnson.
Students who show COVID 19 symptoms or have been exposed should remain at home.

Timely parent communication with the school about positive cases are appreciated in an effort to keep our school, students, staff and community safe.
The last day of our 1st quarter is this Friday, Oct 8. Students are expected to end strong. Parents please check with your child, your child's teacher, review Powerschool and Canvas. It is also recommended that parents have a conversation with students about progress in college courses.

Our student United Way Challenge is on throughout the month of October. We ask students to donate spare change to help your grade level win weekly incentives. In news from our PTA... instead of our traditional fundraising efforts and listening to parent feedback, this year the PTA is asking for donations. A donation page has been added to our school's website for your convenience. Please know that 100% of donations go to our students and staff. Please consider supporting the Middle College at UNCG PTA with a donation.

We look forward to a great week. I look forward to seeing you this week. Thanks for choosing the Middle College at UNCG!

Good evening. This is Ms. Brown, principal of the Middle College at UNCG, calling with announcements for the week.

As we go into this week, we want to make sure that parents are aware of updates that will come from UNCG this week in regards to students who are not vaccinated. Students who are vaccinated and attend the Middle College should continue to upload proof of vaccination as soon as possible. Students presenting any symptoms should call the school or stay home if you are not feeling well.

That includes fevers or throat, cough, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste of smell, dirreahea, or vomiting and a new onset of severe headaches, especially with the fever. We want to make sure that all of our students and staff at the Middle College remain safe.

A free SAT/ACTPrep Academy for Guilford County School. Students will take place Thursday, September 16 from 6:00 until 7:15. The event, which is sponsored by Say Yes Guilford, is free and open to the public. Students and families must register to attend the event.

We encourage our students to take part in that. We will continue with practicing emergency drills this week at the Middle College. This Friday, September 17, is a teacher workday and no high school classes for students. We look forward to a great weekend. Thank you for so much of your support of the Middle College at UNCG. Have a wonderful evening.

Consequences for students not in dress code will be applied. Also, while we understand that cell phone are a favorite accessory for students and parent to student communication is sometimes necessary, we really need students to maximize instructional time by not using phones while students are scheduled to learn.

It would be helpful if parents could please contact student by cell phone before and after school, during any free blocks or during our lunch block. Parents can leave important messages for students by calling the office.

Parents, please make sure that students are encouraged to continue to wear masks to school, cover their noses, social distance, and practice good handwashing. Students that present COVID-19 symptoms should remain at home and if a child test positive, we ask that you please notify the school. Some symptoms, fever, sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing, the new loss of taste or smell, diarrhea or vomiting, and new onset of severe headaches, especially with a fever. We want to make sure that our students and staff remain safe so that we can continue the teaching and learning process face to face.

If a child is tested positive again, please report it to the school, and if your child has been exposed in that Guilford County Health Department requires contact trace and you will be notified on a need to know basis. I would like to direct you to the Guilford County Schools website where you can find a data dashboard for COVID-19 reporting per school. Good evening, this is Principal Brown with your announcements for the week of August 23.
Seniors and parents of seniors, please save the date. Sept 9 from 4:00-5:30, we invite you out to Senior Night to learn about the college admission process, scholarships, meet and hear from universities and colleges, the military and more. Juniors are invited as well. A link to RSVP will be provided through Remind.

Parents, I would like to direct your attention to our website under the Parents tab. We are steadily building a Parent University section just for you! We will continue adding resources throughout the year. We hope that parents and students have also had a chance to read the newsletter from our School Counselor Ms. Graves. Additional resources and beneficial information were enclosed. You can find it on Ms. Graves website and it was also sent through Remind.

Parents don’t forget to join our school's PTSA using the Member Hub link. The cost is only $7.00. If anyone is interested, our PTSA has two positions available - secretary and treasurer. Those interested should contact our PTSA president, Mrs. Sherry Gordon at sherrypgordon66@gmail.com.

Previously we asked that student vaccination proof be submitted to our college liaison, Mrs. Johnson. There has been a change in this request and now families can simply upload their own proof using the link that was provided through Remind. Parents, in coordination with UNCG emergency management and police department, we will begin conducting all of our safety drills. In addition, we are adding an extra layer of safety for our students.

Beginning tomorrow, all students who are in and out of the building each day to attend college classes will be required to use a student campus log. Students should scan the QR code which will be located at the front desk. It is important to us that all students are accounted for and that student are in turn, accountable for their own whereabouts.

GCS has a math tutor opportunity available for high school students who have completed Math 1, 2 and 3 with a B and above. Other criteria, pay rates, credits earned, and more details are on the flyer provided to our students. GCS traditional schools begin tomorrow so we ask that our bus riders exercise patience. The morning pickup times could be a few minutes off as drivers and traditional students adjust this first week.

Thank you for your support of the Middle College at UNCG and let's make it a great week!

Good evening Middle College at UNCG families. This is Principal Brown with announcements for the week. On Wednesday, August 10, UNCG announced a new policy for the Fall 2021 semester, requiring all students who are attending at least one in-person college class to either submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or participate in periodic COVID-19 testing. This includes students enrolled in Sophomore Pathways. In consultation with University leadership, we are still working out the details on how this policy will be implemented for Middle College students. For now, students who are already fully vaccinated can reach out to Ms. Johnson, our college liaison, via email or Remind for details on providing this documentation.

We encourage all students, even those who are not currently enrolled in any in-person UNCG classes, to get vaccinated as soon as possible, in case similar policies are in place in future semesters.

College classes start this Tuesday, August 17. Our students are off to a good start in the classrooms. We look forward to a great week of teaching and learning. Follow us on all social media platforms and visit the school's website to stay connected. Thanks for choosing the Middle College at UNCG!

Good evening, this is Principal Brown with announcements for the week. We are off to a great start at the Middle College at UNCG. Students will begin following their regular class schedules tomorrow. We appreciate all the student participation and feedback from our orientation activities last week. As a reminder, this Wednesday, August 11 is a GCS teacher workday and no school for student. Also, for our students enrolled in UNCG classes, those will begin next Tuesday, August 17.

As we prepare for the week, students are reminded to please bring your Chromebook fully charged daily. Parents of car riders, thank you for your cooperation with our pickup and drop off requests. As we get closer to the university start date and increased traffic on campus, it is important that we use the Middle

College designated location on Kenilworth for our car riders. Parents please use both sides of the street when parking to drop off or pickup. Kenilworth is a one way street and this will prevent cars being stacked on Walker Ave. We have worked hard to work through all schedule change requests and bus conflicts.

Please contact Ms. Graves for any remaining schedule issues and Mr. Prioleau for bus questions or concerns. Thank you for choosing the Middle College at UNCG. We look forward to a great week!
