I created this video for rising 6th-grade students in Flipgrid - a space where they could respond with their own videos. Even though you won't be able to respond, I hope it will give you insight into me and what to expect next year! You can check out my brief bio below the video!
Before retiring, Ms. Crone spoke so highly of Southeast Guilford Middle School’s staff and students, and I quickly saw how special this school is; I am excited to be here!
I began my career in education teaching middle and high school classes at Noble Academy (2008-2010; 2012), a small school for students with learning differences. In 2012, I was happy to accept an offer for the School Library Media Coordinator position at Grimsley as I finished my Master of Library and Information Studies. After working as a Whirlie for five years, I moved to, and also loved working at, Smith High School for one year. Aiming to have a greater impact on School Library Media Coordinators’ and teachers’ understanding and use of technology, I accepted a position as a Blended Learning Specialist in GCS’ district office. While I enjoyed working in that capacity for almost two years, I really missed working with students and “being a librarian.” I am passionate about creating an open and inviting space where students can not only find the perfect book, but also explore and think critically about ideas while learning skills to access and evaluate information. I aim to create engaging programs and select books that every student can see themselves reflected in as well as books that give them better insight into others. I look forward to continuing to learn with our Falcons!
