Welcome! I am honored to be the Principal of Morehead Elementary, the Expressive Arts Magnet School. Please allow me the opportunity to introduce myself.
I was born and raised in Jupiter, FL. Graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida (Go BULLS!), I began my teaching career at Carrollwood Elementary School in Tampa, FL. After four years of service and learning as a Carrollwood Owl, I decided to move to a big city to explore living on my own in Boston, Massachusetts. After a year of business in “The Big City” and VERY cold weather, I moved to a happy medium in North Carolina. There, I reentered the education world at Andrews Elementary in Alamance Burlington School System.
Realizing that I wanted to further my understanding and experience in education, I entered graduate school at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (Aggie Pride). After earning a Master’s degree in School Administration, I was asked to transition to Dean Pruette SCALE Academy in Guilford County Schools. Welcoming a new challenge and further insight into public education, I gladly accepted. While at DPS, I experienced the challenge of understanding the obstacles that stood in front of our young men and women enrolled in GCS. There, I was charged with leading the mentoring program, remedial reading instruction, as well as overseeing the curriculum for grades sixth through twelfth. I am not only proud of the work, but also the dedication that school offers to its students – a great team. The next step on my journey was Ferndale Middle School, serving as an Assistant Principal. There, I was proud to work with the team towards ensuring that our students were getting the best educational experience in GCS.
Entering my twenty fourth year in the educational profession, I am proud to be a part of the Morehead Elementary Family as the Principal. The Morehead community is strong and well connected. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead and learn with the school.
On a personal level, I am a proud mother of two beautiful girls, Emma and Taylor. My husband Todd and I enjoy spending time with our family in the beautiful outdoors that North Carolina has to offer. We try to travel to the coastal areas as well as the mountains at least once a year. I love reading books on how to further myself both personally and educationally. “Today is not just another day. It is a new opportunity, another chance. A new beginning. Embrace it!”
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions that you may have.
