Ms. Ashley Young, Principal

We are wrapping up our 2022-2023 school year!   I am so proud of the amazing things that the students, staff, and community have accomplished here at NWH this year. 

This is an outstanding school, and the high expectations and standards that have been established contributes to the success of our students. I am looking forward to the upcoming school year, and I am excited to meet the students and families that I have not had the opportunity to work with yet. 

I want to encourage each family to continue to be involved with our school community, and take an active role in their student’s education.  It is this collaboration between our hard working staff, and our students and their families, that will allow our school to continue to grow and thrive.  We will work as a team to provide each student with every opportunity to be successful, and to maintain a caring and inclusive environment.

I have been in education for 21 years.  I started my career as a Middle School Special Education Teacher in Guilford County.  After 4 years, I transferred to Northwest High School, where I served as both a teacher, then an Assistant Principal. I was here for a total of 11 awesome years.  I was then Principal at McMichael High School in Rockingham County before coming back to Guilford County to serve as Principal of Northwest Middle School for two years before coming back hom to NWH in 2020.  I received a degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  I then earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from UNCG in 2009.  I received my M.S. Certification in School Administration from UNCG in 2013.  I have a daughter, Carly who graduated from Northwest High in 2020.
