  • It is an honor to work in a school overflowing with tradition and community support.  At Northwest exceptional teachers and staff have created a dynamic learning environment that allows students to achieve inside and outside of the classroom. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at watkind2@gcsnc.com  or by phone 336 605-3300 if you need anything. Let’s work together to make this year the best it can be!

I am beginning my 13th year in education and my 5th year at Northwest High School. I served as the Graduation Coach/Online Learning Facilitator for 1 year before moving into the Assistant Principal role. Other roles I held at previous schools are Teacher/Coordinator for Asheboro City Schools, Student Service Administrator for Guilford County Schools, School Administrator for Wilmington Early College High School and High School Dean at Triad Math and Science Academy. As Assistant Principal, my mission aligns with the schools in providing students with opportunities that will enable them to become confident life-long learners.  In my current role as AP, I aspire to create a positive culture that is conducive to student academic/social learning, professional growth, and family engagement. I look forward to working with the students, families, staff and community while carrying out the vision and mission of Northwest High School and GCS.

I enjoy spending time with my family when I am not at school. My wife Abbey and I have two children that we are very proud of. Daughter Bailey a senior at UNC Chapel Hill and son Noah a senior in high school.

I am excited and very grateful for this opportunity to serve the students, parents and community of Northwest HS! Go Vikings!
