1st Grade Rocks!

My name is Mrs. Garvey! I grew up in Maryland and moved to Hawaii with my husband in 2010. We lived there for 4 years before the Air Force moved us to Alaska for 3 years. I did my student teaching with Kindergarten and 1 year teaching first grade. My husband separated from the Air Force and we decided to move to Arizona. We lived there for 3 years where I taught first grade at Dos Rios Elementary. After living on the other side of the country for 10 years we decided we wanted to be a little closer to family in Maryland so we picked up and moved to North Carolina with our cat and dog in May 2020.

I love exploring, traveling, and finding new places and things to do. On the weekends you can find me curled up on the couch with my dog watching tv, putting puzzles together, going to sports games, hiking, fishing, and finding new places to eat.

I graduated with my Bachelors from Chaminade University of Honolulu in Elementary Education. This is my 5th year teaching. I absolutely love what I do and wouldn't change it for the world! I am very excited to be a new member of the Bessemer family this year!
