Dr. Andrew Dancy holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). He also completed a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from UNCG. He performs frequently throughout NC and has presented concerts at numerous locations including Piccolo Spoleto Festival, the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy, North Carolina Day of Percussion, Percussive Arts Society National Convention, Charleston Southern University, NC A&T State University, and Greensboro College.
Dr. D is passionate about sharing his love of music with students of all ages. He is in his second year as Director of Choirs at Northwest Guilford High Schools. At Northwest, he conducts the Viking Voices choirs and teaches AP Music Theory. Previously, he served as the music teacher at Winget Park Elementary in Charlotte, NC where he was department chair and named the 2019-20 Teacher of the Year. He was previously the chorus director at Southeast Middle School in Kernersville, NC. He has experience in government and non-profit sectors serving as the Music Education Coordinator for the City of Greensboro and the Director of Educational Activities at The Music Academy of North Carolina. He also maintains a private studio of piano and percussion students.
