Welcome to the Swann Middle School Library!

It's going to be a great year in the Swann Middle School Library!

I'm Ms. Shirk, the Library Media Coordinator. This is my second year at Swann, and I am so happy to be part of the PRIDE!

Before coming to Swann I was an ESL teacher and an ELA teacher for many years, here in North Carolina, as well as Virginia, Washington State and Massachusetts! I have loved living in different places, but Greensboro has been my home for the last 15 years.

I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA and a Master's degree from UNCG. I am currently working on a Master's in Library and Information Science. As you can tell, I LOVE education!

In the library, I will introduce you to books, work with you on research skills and projects, and create a safe environment to read, learn and explore. Be on the lookout for activities, challenges, and contests throughout the year!
