Brianna Forbes, BA, MFA
Brianna Forbes (North Carolina) grew up street dancing and performing at community events. She recently graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), receiving her Master of Fine Arts in Choreography along with her K-12 teaching licensure in the Spring of 2020. During her time in graduate school, she taught collegiate dance courses, partnered with community organizations in Greensboro (The interactive Resource Center) and Durham, NC (Student U) communities as an artist-activist (artivist) raising awareness about important social issues in society through Dance, and was the recipient of the Kristina Larson MFA Thesis Award. Ms. Forbes currently serves as the National Vice President of Delta Chi Xi (DCX) Honorary Dance Fraternity Inc. In her time with DCX, she has performed with her brothers at events and briefly studied under various artists. Currently, Ms. Forbes is a proud principal dancer of Dance Now Cry Later founded by Ms. Tarayjah Hoey-Gordon, and has performed her own original works throughout D.C., Maryland, and North Carolina. She has choreographed and taught movement classes with middle and high school students in Durham and Greensboro, NC. Ms. Forbes enjoys movement and teaching people how to use dance as an avenue to experience life and hopes to continue to pursue a career as a growing choreographer, educator, and artist-activist.
