Hello! My name is Anna Gormley, and I am the Drama Teacher at Parkview Village Elementary School! I wanted to introduce myself, and share a little bit about me!
I found my passion for Theatre Arts at a young age. As a painfully shy child, I struggled to make social connections. I was so shy, that my younger sister would speak to people and answer questions for me. My Mom enrolled me in a summer theatre camp, and my world opened up. Theatre gave me an outlet to express myself, improve my confidence, and open my eyes to different cultures, communities, and stories.
In 2019, I graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro with my BFA in Theatre Education, as well as my K-12 Theatre Arts Educator's License. Post graduation, I moved across the country to work as a teaching artist at a regional theatre right outside of San Francisco, California. As the year progressed, I moved up and served as the interim Education Director for the company. My heart is in the classroom, so I decided to make the move from theatre company, back to the classroom. I am so excited to be back in the Greensboro area, to begin my first year as a teacher at Parkview.
Art is not perfect. It can excite us. It can scare us. It can open our eyes to different cultures and experiences. It can even change the way we look at the person sitting next to us in the room. I am looking forward to a year of theatrical exploration with you all!
