Welcome to Elementary Art with Ms. Casto!
I am thrilled to be teaching art to Grades 4 and 5 at The Academy at Lincoln. This is my fourth year teaching with Guilford County Schools. Until I transitioned to education, I worked as an artist/art director in the private sector, and in public administration as a community relations manager. My BA is in psychology and art and I have a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. I greatly appreciate the value that self-expression contributes to our positive mental health. Visual art is a universal form of communication that helps us understand and appreciate one another.
Pablo Picasso said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." I keep this in mind as I work to build confidence and resilience in young artists.
My hobbies include reading, writing and all things creative. I have two cats: William and Kate.
We are having a great year in art, with some students working remotely and others face-to-face. I invite you to take a look at the student gallery for examples of the wonderful works created by our young artists. I am looking forward to the exciting possibilities that are ahead for the second semester.
