    1. Does the student have to be interested in the medical field to apply to MC @ UNCG?

    We highly encourage students who apply to have an active interest in this field given the focus of school.

    1. How well does your curriculum prepare students to pursue a pharmacy career?

    Our students can take many of the prerequisite courses that would lead eventually to pharmacy school.  We also have job shadowing opportunities for students working in pharmacies.

    1. Does the student have to be interested in the medical field in order to apply or are there other career pathways?

    We highly encourage students who apply to have an active interest in the health science field given the focus of the school. But of course, that can lead to different career pathways.

    1. Can rising 9th graders apply for the Middle College at UNCG?

    Yes, students who will be 9th graders during the current school year may apply.

    1. Are sports still offered?

    Students at the Middle College at UNCG participate in sports through their home school.

    1. How do we qualify for Middle College?

    Interested students should complete an application in SchoolMint and have an interest in medical/health careers. There are no prerequisites other than those. A strong application to answer all questions is important.

    1. Is it still a program for Health and Medical Careers students only?

    Our school's focus is Health Science and Medical Careers. It is strongly encouraged that students who apply have an interest in these career areas.

    1. Is this school good for people wanting to pursue an interdisciplinary college major but with a psychology minor?

    It is important that students have an interest in the medical field, which includes psychology. Course requirements and electives are based on our school's focus on Health Sciences and Medical Careers.

    1. Would forensic science be considered medical?

    There is no high school course specific to forensics or mental health. However, many of our students have taken a college-level Psychology class, or something similar.

    1. Are there any classes like forensics or any classes that have to do with mental health?

    Also, we have job shadowing/internship placements that relate to interests in forensics science and mental health.

    1. Would forensic science be considered medical?

    Yes, forensic science is in the medical field. 

    1. Do you offer intern situations?

    Our Pathways program offers opportunities to "shadow" within various sites.

    1. Is there a certain number of slots available?

    We typically fill around 50 first-year student slots each year.

    1. How many students are accepted for the freshman class? About how many applications does your program typically receive?

    We typically accept about 50 students per grade level. The number of applications that we receive varies. 

    1. Are there any courses along the path of women, gender, and sexuality studies?

    UNCG does offer college courses in this field.

    1. I'm really excited to sign up, what would keep me from making it?

    The only thing we know for sure that would keep you from admission would be to not apply.

    1. How many students are accepted for the freshman class? About how many applications does your program typically receive?

    We have space for about 50 per incoming freshmen class. Last year we received about 600 applications.

    1. How many sophomore spots are available?

    We do not know the number of slots available for the 10th-12th grade at this time. That is dependent on if students withdraw.
