Remote Students Only
April 29, 2021
As part of North Carolina Testing law (G.S. § 115C-174), your 6th – 8th grade child is required to take the End-of-Grade (EOG) Tests and for students enrolled in NC Math 1 the End-of-Course (EOC) Test during the final ten days of the school year. All 6th – 8th grade Remote Instruction students are required to be tested in their home schools. Remote Instruction students will be tested on Wednesdays when other students are not in the building. All district COVID-19 safety protocols for Remote Instruction students will be followed.
The purpose of this standardized test is to establish a measure of your child’s reading, math, and/or science skills for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Per state regulation, there is no “opt-out’ provision and these tests must be taken in-person. North Carolina does not offer a remote option for any state accountability assessment.
Students who have a significant medical reason for not testing may apply for a Medical Exception with supporting medical documentation through the school’s Testing Coordinator and may be officially excused from testing. All students without an approved medical exception are expected to test. Parents of students who do not test will not have data to determine their child’s proficiency level.
Your child’s tests will be administered as follows: (Students should arrive between 9:20-9:40.)
- Grades 6-8 Reading EOG on Wednesday, May
- Grades 6-8 Math EOG/EOC/Final on Wednesday, May 26.
- Grade 8 Science EOG/Grade 7 EOG (for Math 1 students only) on Wednesday, June 2.
Following the EOG/EOC Test administration, families will receive an Individual Student Report (ISR) with the child's score. This report will display your child’s reading, math, and/or science scores compared to other students in Guilford County and North Carolina.
