Welcome to my page!

My name is Mikayla Newsome and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Sumner Elementary School. Prior to teaching Kindergarten, I taught Pre-K for seven years. I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education in 2016 from Western Carolina University and my Masters of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education from N.C. State in 2022. I am originally from Massachusetts and still enjoy cheering on the New England Patriots and the Red Sox. I love to spend time outside in nature. Some of my hobbies include hiking, gardening, and reading. I'm looking forward to a great school year!
