I am really looking forward to working with you all.
My name is Florecita Olmos and I am originally from Cedar Grove, North Carolina. My parents are from Zacatecas, Mexico and I grew up in a bilingual household as I am the youngest of 4.
I completed my B.A. in International Global Studies and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I graduated with International Honors in May 2020. In 2019, I studied abroad for a semester in Caceres, Spain, a small town ~3 hours away from Madrid and Seville.
Upon graduation, I continued to improve on the language by being involved in the community. In February 2021, I had the pleasure to begin my teaching career here at Western and I LOVE IT!
I am also a recent graduate of the GCS - ACT program.
I love helping students, especially if it is in the language that I love or even answering questions about college! I enjoy traveling (with Italy being my favorite), photography and learning new languages (currently in between Italian and Nahuatl). I also have an adorable three-year-old Shih Tzu, Mickey.
My goal is to guide you all to be more comfortable in the language and get to the finish line. 😊
Florecita M. Olmos (Señorita Olmos, Maestra Olmos, Profe, Ms. O)
P.S. My last name will change after this school year ❤️
