Welcome to Ms. Walker's webpage. I teach AP English Language and Composition in 11th grade and I also teach 12th grade English. I am an alumni of Grimsley High School, and I am returning here to teach again after a number of years where I taught in a variety of settings. I have been an educator for almost 30 years and, during that time, I have taught all ages from pre-school to adults. I hold a B.A. with double major in English and Latin American Studies from UNC-Greensboro and a post-baccalaureate teaching degree from the Unviersity of Washington in Seattle, WA. I also studied sustainable agricuture at Central Carolina Community College and recently my husband and I bought a small farm where we raise goats and chickens. We plan to grow our own food and live sustainably to do our small part to help our ailing Mother Earth. I have two grown children and one adorable granddaughter. We are also dog lovers and have rescued three pups who love roaming on the farm. In my spare time, I enjoy painting and other arts, reading, hiking and porch-sitting ( a great Southern tradition). I look forward to getting to know all of my students this year and hope our year is not disrupted by more pandemic problems. I am open and accessible to my students and want them to know my door is always open for help or support. Let's make this year peaceful and positive.
