  • During my time at Wake Forest, I also got to perform research on a topic that means a great deal to me. I performed cell culture researched on cancer. I was offered a position through the Chemistry department to work on testing newly developed chemotherapies. I worked in the lab under Dr. Ulrich Bierbach Ph.D. to see if lung cancer cells could develop resistance to the chemotherapy drug he had developed. It was a very formative experience and reinforced how much I love science and experimentation.

Outside of science I really enjoy hiking and photography. I even have some vintage film cameras that I use, and I typically develop the film myself afterward. I also have two cats and a loving fiancée whom I live with at home and adore.

  • Hello all and welcome. My name is Shade White, and my pronouns are he/him. Please refer to me as Mr. White or Mr. Shade. I am a first year teacher and a scientist. I graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. During my time there, I worked as a Resident Advisor, and videographer for the school's football team. I am more than happy to talk about college any time! Please watch the info below to hear a little more from me.
