I am so excited to come back to High Point Central's CTE program for my second year

I am a visual artist & video/multimedia director as well as an educator for the past 4 years.
I learned the love of teaching teens & adults media skills in Miami Florida where I taught in a program called YOUmedia Miami and worked for the past 5 years making movies books and installations about ecology in Florida.

I am originally from NC and I moved back last June with my cat Lolo to start teaching where I grew up.

Some highlights from my first year at GCS

-Won the Governor's Education Discovery Grant to gain training in Unreal Engine led by industry leaders to pass onto my students.

    - Won the 2021 High Point Arts Council grant to bring guest BIPOC and Female artists with careers in archetecture, 3d production and fabrication, game design, video and entreprenuership to visit my students and lead workshops and talks virtually.

-Selected as an Education Leader with Epic Games- these opportunities help me to bring media and game industry knowledge to my students.

I am certified in Adobe and hope for my students to achieve the same certifications.

I am a graduate of UNC with a BFA with Honors in Studio Art and a BA in Communication studies: Media Production.

I love nature, plants, films, hiking, & working with community empowerment groups.

I love all kinds of music & I used to DJ on a local radio station.

My goal as an educator is to empower youth to be proactive in their path towards becoming a citizen, global and local community member, and worker.

I lead with skill based technical instruction and promote a culture of creative thinking and deep analysis to promote students's ability to promote their ideas through self disciplined project management.

I believe every student is capable of gainful meaningful employment given the proper training regardless whether they choose a college path or a trade based path and my job is to realize their potential and promote outcomes.
