Akeala Goins

I am a Graduate of Guilford College. I enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family. My motivation to teach comes from me wanting to help make math a more preferred subject, especially for children who have struggled with it. I remember being in a college math course feeling like I didn't belong because no one in the classroom resembled me(being an African American female). I want to try my best to make sure that more students have the tools they need to feel confident pursuing math degrees or degrees that require heavy mathematics despite how out of place they may feel. I believe every child has the potential to succeed academically some of them just need a little motivation. I want to be that motivation for as many students as I can reach.”
