Mathematics
  • Hello! My name is Leah Ray Necas (Ne-chas). I use Ms. Ray. I am originally from Florida and went to the University of Florida (Gator Nation) for my Bachelor of Science in Physics with Honors, then to the University of California, Irvine, for my Master of Science in Earth System Science, studying the change in the North Atlantic Oscillation, and received my teaching license. I have taught and tutored physics and math in California and North Carolina, and homeschooled Kindergarten and 1st grade for each of my children.

I am the Chair of the Board of Adjustment for the City of Greensboro, a quasi-judicial board that considers variance requests, special exceptions, hearing zoning appeals and special use permits. I also volunteer with Triad International Ballet as a dancer.

I have 3 wonderful children and a physicist husband who sometimes looks a little like he's imitating Einstein's hairdo in hopes of added inspiration.  We moved to Greensboro to be closer to family, but we are so happy and fortunate to live in this city that has the culture of a big city with a small town feel.  We enjoy hiking in varying degrees, reading, and playing with our calico kitty cat, Clare.
