The Governor's School of North Carolina is a 4-week summer residential program for advanced high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on each of two campuses.
The curriculum focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline, and it does not involve tests, grades, or credit. Students apply in one of the following areas: Art, Choral Music, Dance, English, Spanish, Instrumental Music, Math, Natural Science, and Theater. Students are selected to attend through a competitive progress after being nominated by their school district.
For 2022, the state has waived the testing requirements for Governor's School eligibility. Although the district will have a competitive nomination process, all students interested in this prestigious opportunity are encouraged to apply.
