Ms. Walker

Hello!! 

My name is Ms. Walker, and I will be the music teacher again this year at Southern. I had a great year at Southern last year, and I am looking forward to another great year ahead! 

So, who is Ms. Walker? Well, I have been teaching for over twenty years in both public and private Christian schools in two different states. I have been with Guilford County Schools for seven years. I have taught elementary music all of those years. I love teaching and wanted to be a teacher since I was very small. My degree is in Music Education K-12. I have a valid teaching license in North Carolina through 2026.I also have an endorsement in AG.

My philosophy of teaching is a borrowed quote. It says, "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care." I truly teach by that mindset. I want my students to know that they are cared about and in a safe setting when they come to music class so that they can learn, create, and express themselves musically. 

I enjoy watching old movies, relaxing at home, swimming, trips to the Outer Banks, and hosting the major holidays at my place. I sing in my church choir and solo regularly. I enjoy church and my church family. I was married and have two incredible adult children, who mean the world to me. Oh, by the way, the photo is a picture of my favorite place on earth that I have visited so far, The Pacific Coast Highway in southern California. Simply beautiful!

Please plan to attend our Winter Music Program on December 14th, 2023. The 3rd-5th graders will be performing. We will also have some selections performed by our Southern Elementary Chorus.Please remember that the performance will be held at Sothern MIDDLE School because we do not have enough room at Southern Elementary. I hope to see each one of you there!
