  • Hello Phoenix Families,

We're looking forward to a great week! Please read the important information below. Thank you and have a great week!

    Start with Hello Week

It’s time to Start with Hello here at Brown Summit! Start with Hello is a Sandy Hook Promise initiative aimed to promote a school culture of inclusion and to help prevent feelings of social isolation. Hello Week will take place September 19th-23rd.This week BSMS stands together to say to all students that we see you and we value you. During AA and throughout the week, students will participate in activities that encourage building a school community of awareness, kindness and acceptance.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Sloan or Ms. Cook.

    Student Handbook

We’re looking forward to a great start to our week! We are asking families to please continue to take some time to speak with their child regarding school appropriate behavior. We thank you in advance for reinforcing appropriate school behavior with your child.

    Academic Teams

“Our Quiz Bowl and Mock Trial teams will be starting this week. Quiz Bowl practices are virtual for the Fall and will be on Monday Nights from 7 to 8 pm. Students will receive an invitation to these meetings through Microsoft Teams. Mock trial practices will begin on Wednesday. These practices are after school from 3:30 to 5:00 pm in Mrs. Perdue’s and Mrs. McCarthy’s rooms. Please be prompt in picking up your child at 5 pm. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Perdue with questions.

    Safety Drills

We will practice our fire, tornado and lockdown drills this month. It is important that students and staff know these procedures and can act swiftly if we were to have an emergency.  Please speak with your student about the purpose of participating in these drills correctly.

    No School

Wednesday, October 5 is a teacher workday. There is no school for students.

    PTSA Communication

    September PTSA Meeting

We’d love to see BSMS families and staff at our first PTSA meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 20 at 7pm via Zoom. Meeting ID: 822 4287 4609; Passcode: 734712. We will vote on approving the PTSA budget at this meeting, which requires 20 people to be present—we will be presenting the budget first, so feel free to help out by hopping on the meeting for the first few minutes only!

    Help Wanted . . .

We are seeking a few more families who might be willing to assist with coordinating the Fall Festival. This is a pretty minimal commitment—a couple meetings and assistance with setup if you’re available. If you can spare a couple hours to help plan, email Liz at essedgwi@gmail.com; additional details about the festival will be coming out in the next few weeks!

Save the Date to Feather the Nest

Feather the Nest, PTSA’s annual fundraiser, will kick off September 26. All contributions go directly to support the students and staff of BSMS. Corporate sponsorships are available.
