Mr. Derrick Rice

Hello, my name Derrick Rice.  This is my seventh year teaching, but third year at Northwest Guilford High School.

  I am from Kernersville, NC; and an East Forsyth High School graduate, C/O 2010.  I went to both Forsyth Tech and Winston Salem State University for all of my educating.  My father is a proud Northwest Alumni, C/O 1976. 

  My Wife and I got married on September 23 of 2024.  We have two dogs that are our absolute world; a Goldendoodle named Stella, and a Golden Retriever named Indy.

  An interesting fact about me is that I started racing at the ripe age of seven.  I was fortunate enough to have won numerous State and National Championships in dirt karting, until we decided to take the leap into a race car at Bowman Gray Stadium.  I raced at BG for four years with Stoltz Motorsports.  During that time, I won six races and two Championships.  After my second Championship, I decided to stop after a very accomplished twenty-four year racing career to focus on my actual career in teaching.

  I am still very involved with sports, but all has to do with Northwest Guilford High School sports.  I am the operator of the Northwest Guilford Sports Marketing page on Instagram where we have over 1,000 Followers and continue to highlight and showcase our athletes and teams.  I am also one of the Wrestling coaches here and am very proud to be a part of NW Wrestling and its rich culture.
