It's my pleasure to serve Ferndale Middle IB World School as their new International Baccalaureate Coordinator. Prior to working as Ferndale's IB Coordinator, I was their School Library Media Coordinator for three happy years. However, when asked to assume the position of IB Coordinator, I couldn't help but accept; I believe one must jump at new and exciting opportunities to learn other skills when they are presented. During my tenure as an educator, I've primarily taught English, and am certified to do so in grades six through twelve. I believe that being an educator is one of the most noble professions one can pursue, and I intend to spend all the time I have as an educator dedicated to the success of every student I encounter.
I'm a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and hold a B.A. in English. I’m just as pleased to have graduated from Gardner-Webb University where I earned an M.A. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Teacher Leadership. It is my goal to remain committed to our students, and that this commitment is unparalleled and easily identifiable through my daily interactions with our teachers and with our students.
I know every child has the potential to succeed, but I also know that success looks very different to each student. It is for this reason the International Baccalaureate Programme is so important, as we focus not only on content, but how students can apply information they learn in class to their personal lives through various interdisciplinary manners. I look forward to working with all our students as the years continue to progress, as I am still a school-wide resource. My hope is that Ferndale Middle School, our teachers, our students, and the bonds they build here will help all students thrive after they leave FMS. Please feel welcome to contact me at any time; my door is open. Let's have a fantastic school year!
