• Hello!

My name is Ms. Luze, this is my third year teaching ELA, but my first year with sixth grade. I grew up in Colorado but moved here from South Dakota after graduating from college in 2021. The light of my life is my dog, Milo. Asking to see pictures is the perfect way to derail any conversation. I love to read (what a shocker), watch movies, cook, and go on roadtrips. I am very excited to get to know all of my students and their families. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

Please make sure students are coming to school prepared with all of their materials and an open mind! If there are any known absences, please let me know ahead of time in case there is any reading that will need to be done while the students is away. Unexpected absences happen, so student work can be found on Canvas within the "week of" tab

Syllabus: GCS is rolling out a new ELA curriculum this year! The following link provides a brief description of each of the modules students will engage in this year: Year Overview (link will open in new tab)

Supplies: Students will need a 1.5" binder with 5 tab dividers. Students will also need to bring a pencil or pen with them to class everyday.

Tutoring: GCS offers FREE tutoring for all subjects at https://www.gcsnc.com/Page/64244  In addition, I will hold tutoring as needed to work on particular skills on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:00. Students must let me know if they are coming to tutoring ahead of time so I can give them a pass.

Fun Friday: To manage daily behaviors, students work towards a "Fun Friday" every two weeks.  Students will participate if they have less than 5 tallies for the two weeks. IF a student exceeds the 5 tallies, a parent phone call/conference may occur and/or office referral applies.
