Welcome to the Building Services Department

The GCS Building Services Department has 116 employees, which are responsible for maintaining all GCS buildings and grounds. The Building Services staff maintains approximately 13 million square feet of buildings and over 2,979.54 acres of land. We receive and complete over 30,000 work orders per year.
The goal of the Building Services Department is to provide a safe and comfortable environment that is conducive to learning. We strive to maintain all Guilford County School sites in the best condition possible. We also maintain our buildings in the most cost effective way by processing work orders in a timely manner. The large volume of work orders is managed by ARCHIBUS and is electronically available to all schools. In addition to routine work orders, we also manage small scale service contracts and construction projects.
The GCS Building Services comprises of a vast area of responsibilities from repair to small renovations. Our services include the following:
- Minor Repairs – HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Food Service Equipment
- Heavy Equipment and Grounds (i.e. mowing/landscaping of sites)
- Custodial Services
- Health and Safety
- Indoor Air Quality
- Energy
- Facility Use
- Minor Renovations
- Maintaining and Moving Mobile Classrooms
- ADA and Environmental Issue Remediation
