• Hello and welcome to my page!

I am Kimberly Simmons, the School Social Worker for The A&T Four Middle College. This is my first year here, and I am excited to work with our students, families, and staff. I am a two-time graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL, having received my B.S. in Psychology and Masters of Social Work. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with active licensure in both Washington, D.C. and North Carolina.

School Social Workers have a specific role in Guilford County Schools. We promote the maximum development of all students by the prevention and/or alleviation of problems that interfere with learning. School social workers help schools to maintain constructive and effective relationships between the home, school and community to ensure that the best possible conditions for learning occur. We assist in alleviating problems that may interfere with learning. These may include: family dynamics, homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, family violence, child abuse/neglect, inappropriate behavior, absenteeism, economic deprivation, and lack of understanding of school policies and programs.

Additionally, we are charged with working to ensure a safe and welcoming culture and climate within the school community. We do this in many ways, including promoting programs such as Red Ribbon Week, Anti-bullying, Sandyhook Promise, ANYDAY/ANYTOWN with NCCJ, Acts of Kindness Week, school-wide Social Emotional Learning, and more.

and something good might happen - it's not going
