My name is Je'Letha Porter, and I am so delighted to serve as your School Social Worker this school year. I have been in the amazing field of Social Work for 5 years, for 2 of which I have served in Guilford County Schools. I received my Bachelor of Social Work at Winston Salem State University, and am currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work at Howard University. Aside from my career, I am the mother of two beautiful daughters- Paris and Ja'Nya.
My Educational Philosophy states:
I am a Social Work Educator. In this rewarding position, I take pride in Community partnership, Drop Out Prevention, and Homeless Services. I believe that as an educator, it is my primary responsibility to provide a safe, welcoming environment that promotes an “all-in” experience towards the education of each student. All students can and want to learn, and it is my duty to provide motivation and inspiration that will intrigue the desire for knowledge and to accommodate the need of the whole child. I believe in the P3 educator- positive, passionate, professionals- my students are not their best, if I am not my best. I am committed to the betterment and wellbeing of each child and to foster learning as an inclusive experience- considering students who have varying socioeconomic, racial and disabling barriers. In the words of the late Gandhi, “The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others”.
Let's make this school year great. Gooooo Lions!
