Hello!
Welcome to Art with Mrs. Kanir
This is my first year with NWMS and I am so happy to be here. I have been teaching Middle School Art for 12 years in Forsyth County; the past 10 with Southeast Middle School in Kernersville. Teaching is a second career for me. Before this, I worked as a Graphics Designer and copywriter/editor for many years. I have degrees from The Ohio State University and UNC-Greensboro.
I am married with a grown daughter and son-law. We have a large extended family in North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan. In addition, we have two crazy cats at home: Theo is a spunky orange tabby named after Vincent Van Gogh's brother (only an Art teacher, right?). Claire is a sweet little tortoiseshell cat who loves to play and carry things around the house.
I love to travel, read, draw, and paint. My art can best be described as mixed media. I love to include lots of different materials in the things I create.
I am looking forward to learning and creating with NWMS students this year!
