    Parents,

WELCOME BACK!!!  I would like to introduce myself to you, and let you know how excited I am to have your students in my classroom this year!  My name is Kelly Ripley and this is my tenth year at Colfax Elementary.  I taught second grade for 6 years in another district and  was fortunate enough to receive a position here 9 years ago and be closer to home. I have a 2nd grader here at Colfax and a sixth grader heading to middle school! They bring so much joy to my life and have taught me a lot along the way!

I was born and raised in Greensboro and decided to stay for college. I graduated from UNC-Greensboro in 2004 with an Elementary Education degree and then from Greensboro College with a Master’s Degree in Education in 2008.  I became Nationally Board Certified in the fall of 2012 and truly learned a lot throughout the process.  I value the relationships built with my students, and truly believe that communication with family is a top priority in your student’s success.  Please always feel free to come to me with any questions or concerns.  Email is the best way to reach me and I will try to check it during lunch and specials daily.  If there is an immediate concern, the office will send a phone call through to the room.

I know that this will be an amazing year for your student and I hope that you feel comfortable coming to me with any concerns along the way.  As a grade level, we will be working together closely on lesson plans as well as homework to make things as consistent for the students as possible across the board.  I will always try my best to keep you “in the loop” when routines/procedures may be changing.

Ms. Roy - 1st Grade
