Posted by Aislynn Denny on 11/20/2022 9:00:00 PM

Good Evening Western Guilford Middle School Tiger Families, this is Principal Chase Arrington bringing you announcements for the week of November 21st.

We are excited to announce that Tiger Nation has a newly installed National Beta Club. Ms. Sultanta, one of our multi-classroom leaders for math, and Ms. Murray, the 8th grade counselor are the advisors for the 2022-23 school year.

Students eligible for National Beta Club were invited to a meeting Tuesday, November 15th. They received a letter regarding next steps. If your student received a letter, these are due by November 30, 2022. I am attaching the letter in my Remind Message and Email Message. Please reach out to Ms. Sultana or Ms. Murray if you have questions.

Wednesday, November 23rd is an Optional Teacher Workday and school is closed for students.

School is also closed Thursday and Friday due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

As a reminder for morning arrival, please advise that drop offs for car riders is only for the College Road entrance. Last week, we reviewed our school’s camera footage and noticed several families dropping students off in the bus parking lot. Officer Hanna, our School Resource Officer is made aware of this concern. Additionally, there are some students being dropped off in the circle where the gate is located from the Lindley Road Entrance. This is our bus lot entrance and creates safety concerns due to staff arriving through this entrance. Please adhere to our school’s policy and have students dropped off in the car rider line. The line moves fast once the bell rings for car riders at 7:50am. If there are additional concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at the school.

We hope you stay warm and filled with family warmth during the holiday season. Please stay safe and we look forward to receiving students Monday, November 28th after the holiday.

Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving, Tiger Nation!

Those students who did not receive In School Suspension or Out of School Suspension for the First Quarter are eligible to participate in the PBIS celebration. For those students who received ISS or OSS, they will participate in reflection activities to increase their opportunities of participating in PBIS for the 2nd Quarter. By decreasing the number of ISS/OSS assignments, this will increase the number of students participating in PBIS celebrations.

Thursday, Girls’ Soccer and Boys’ Volleyball will travel to Eastern Middle for a game starting at 4:45pm.

There is no school Friday, November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day. We appreciate all the men and women who served in the Armed Forces to protect our country. Thank you for your service!

Thank you Tiger Nation and I hope each of you have a wonderful and safe week!
