Welcome to an exciting year in first grade at Stokesdale Elementary. I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher and can’t wait to begin our journey together. As we begin this year together, I want the best educational experience for each child in our class. Working together as a community will help everyone have a successful year in first grade. If you are able to volunteer in the classroom or visit your child for lunch please feel free to stop by our classroom anytime. If you have a concern or suggestion please let me know and together we can solve any problems that may arise. I feel communication is the link between parents and teachers and we should always be willing to listen to each other’s opinions. I feel each child has the gift to learn, but everyone learns differently. I will do my best to meet the needs of every child in my classroom to help ensure their success in first grade.

This is my fifth year as a full-time teacher to Stokesdale Elementary. I am very familiar with Stokesdale’s procedures and staff because I held several long term maternity leaves for teachers here at Stokesdale for several years.  Therefore, I feel very comfortable with the first grade curriculum and routines. I attended Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania receiving my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I also hold a master’s degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina A & T in Greensboro.

I live in Oak Ridge with my husband of 20 years and our two daughters. Andrew, my husband, is an administrator, Director of Testing and Accountability in Orange County Schools. Our oldest daughter, Lillian will be attending Northwest High School this year in tenth grade and Madison will be in seventh grade at NWMS. I love to read Nicholas Sparks books, spend time outdoors, and travel to the beach in my spare time. I can’t wait to start our year together! Thank you in advance for your time and support for a successful year in first grade!
