As the principal of Claxton Elementary, I invite you to visit us and experience, first hand, the excitement and enthusiasm of our school family. Throughout all of our programs and classrooms, an emphasis on good character, striving to meet each child's educational needs and extracurricular activities provide a unique educational experience for our students.
We are a diverse community in many ways, but our sense of being one caring family at Claxton can be felt as soon as one walks in the door. As you visit our website, we hope that you are able to get a better feel for the great things that are happening on our campus. We strive to provide a warm, inviting environment that makes our students, staff, parents, as well as visitors feel welcome as an important part of our school. Our staff will attest to the fact that team collaboration, hard work and shared decision making are the key ingredients to the success that Claxton has shown over the past few years.
As we focus on the future, our goal will be to sustain our progress and performance, yet move forward towards challenging our students to meet higher expectations. I want to thank you for taking the time to visit our website and hopefully we have provided you with useful information. If you have further questions please call us at 336-545-2010.
Please come visit Claxton in the near future.
Dr. Shannon Lewis
Hello Claxton Community!
My name is Dr. Shannon Lewis and I am extremely excited to be joining the Claxton Family as your new assistant principal. My background in education in the GCS school district includes 17 years as a teacher, literacy specialist and curriculum facilitator. I believe in giving ALL scholars equitable opportunities to grow and learn daily, regardless of their background. The goal is to develop and build solid relationships to create genuine trust with each individual scholar and their families.
A Little Bit About Dr. Lewis:
I am an Aggie and a HPU Panther. I received a BA in Early Education with an add-on in Elementary Education and a MSA in School Administration from NC Agricultural & Technical State University. I received my Doctor of Education degree from High Point University. I am married and we have an awesome son (Dylan). My favorite colors are green and black. Although, I am very committed to educational leadership, I enjoy being with my family during my spare time.
I am looking forward to getting to know our staff, scholars, and families that we serve. Let's go Claxton!
