Claxton Elementary joined a local program called GO FAR (Go Out For A Run). GO FAR is a program for students in elementary and middle school; the program’s goal is to promote healthy living while helping participants train for and complete a five-kilometer road race.
Each program session incorporates physical and mental training. Each week, participants study a different topic focused on building character, as well as a theme to teach life skills. At the completion of the eight-week program, each participant will be given the opportunity (for a cost of $20) to complete a five- kilometer road race. A parent and/or a family member is ENCOURAGED to complete the road race with their child.
Each participant who completes the 5K Road Race will receive a medal and a race-day T-shirt.
