• Welcome to Mrs. Scales and Mrs. Roberts' Kindergarten class.
We are looking forward to working with you and your child.
There are many things your child will be learning this school year.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled school year.

  • Hello, My name is Mrs. Scales. Welcome to our Kindergarten class. Let me tell you a little about myself. I received my degree from North Carolina Central University in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching thirty-three years in NC. I am married to my best friend, Steve. We have two children. I have a daughter and her name is Landis and a son, his name is Parris. We enjoy doing many things together, such as attending basketball games, boat riding, going to the park, and traveling. My favorite snack is a Snickers bar, my favorite color is blue, my favorite NFL team is the Panthers, and last but not least is my favorite places to eat are Darryl's and Outback.

  • Our class will be working on sight words each week. Please take time each night to review with your child the words on the list. Once list A is done, your child can get List B. Reading should be done each night for 20 minutes. Your child is expected to be on a Level D by the end of Kindergarten. Please make sure you are asking your child questions about the story the two of you are reading. (who, what, when, where, and how) Take time to count with your child. The goal is to be able to count to 100 and maybe beyond that.

Thank you for continuing to work with your child each night. If you have any questions about anything please contact me at scalesk2@gcsnc.com or you can call me at 336-698-0144. I am looking forward to working with you and your child.
