Hello! Welcome to Mrs. Cockman's 2nd Grade Class at McLeansville Elementary!

I graduated from Liberty University in May 2014 with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. This is my 6th year as a classroom teacher and my 4th year at McLeansville. I have previously taught Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd grade, 3rd Grade, and 4th grade.

Last year, I was the reading teacher for 4th grade. I absolutely love teaching kids how to read, how to understand what they are reading, and how to love what they read. Watching students fall in love with reading is one of my greatest joys as a reading teacher. This year, I will be teaching only reading for 2nd grade. We will be exploring multiple topics this year such as Fairy Tales, Asian Civilizations, Greek Civilizations, Greek Myths, The War of 1812, Cycles in Nature, Westward Expansion, Insects, The U.S. Civil War, The Human Body, Immigration, and Historical Figures.

I am married to my best friend, Nathan, who is a Greensboro Fireman. We have a little girl, Natalie Claire, that turned 3 back in May. We are also expecting our little boy, Tristan Thomas, at the end of October. We have one fur baby, Maggie, who is a white lab. My husband and I grew up in this area and we currently live in Brown Summit. 

I am so excited to work with your children this year! We are going to have a fun filled year of learning!
