Welcome to second grade!  My name is Mitzi McLaurin and this is my eleventh year at MBSE.  I love teaching here.  It is a special place and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.  I earned my bachelor's degree in early childhood education from UNC-CH and my master's degree in elementary education from Elon University.  My husband is a fitness trainer and running coach in Greensboro and we have three children: Duncan, Rayna, and Ellery.  Our son, Duncan, is married to Sarah, a GCS teacher, and works with his dad as a fitness trainer. They welcomed their first child, Lachlan, this year.  Our older daughter Rayna is in college in Durham, and our younger daughter Ellery is a senior at Page.  We also have two furry children—Hope, a Chihuahua and Luna, a kitty.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, curling up with a good book, or going for a walk or run.
